Guest feedback from previous Yoga of Recovery retreat at The Yoga Farm – “I came to the YoR retreat mainly to grow in my sprituality and bring more yoga into my daily life. The benefits that I have gained have far exceeded my expectations. I learned how disconnected I was to myself and how I was filling myself with empty promises and worldly goods that left me feeling more depleted than before I started. I gained a connectedness to my body and soul that I have never experienced before. I am able to listen to what my body needs (not what it has been programmed to want) and satisfy that need with what I have learned. … The Yoga of Recovery retreat gave me the courage, as well as settled some underlying fears, …. The lectures helped me to gain insight into my addictive behaviors that I had been engaging in even though I was 14 years sober. I learned how to eat and take care of needs that had gone ignored in the past. By better understanding who I am through the Ayurveda ways of living, I feel as if I have found the person I was always meant to become. Underneath the fear, the weight, the food, the emotions, and the shame, my experience at the Ashram and Yoga of Recovery retreat have helped me to find the courage to change and be more connected to myself, my higher power, and my larger community. I would recommend this retreat to anyone in or out of recovery who is searching for a deeper sense of self.”
The Yoga Farm is located in the foothills of California’s Sierra Mountains, situated in the heart of California’s Mother Lode Country. It is surrounded by rolling hills, forests of oak and pine, and clear streams. Here are 70 acres of secluded peace and solitude, where the sounds of nature soothe the mind and body – ideal for yoga retreats and meditation.
In spring and summer yoga classes are held on the outdoor deck shaded by a grove of oak trees. You can take a meditative walk in our Peace Miracle Labyrinth; casual, contemplative walks around the beautiful 40 acres, and the adjacent 30 acres or hike the 108 steps to Siva hill. A cedar sauna is open year round.Pleasant, simple lodging in dorms, double occupancy rooms or cabins. Our cabins are set on the hillside overlooking the pond and surrounded by the natural beauty of the ashram, providing total peace and tranquility. If you prefer to sleep closer to nature in the fresh, clean open air you can bring your own camping gear.
